Irish vocalist Sinead O'Connor has declared she has changed over to Islam and said she has changed her name to Shuhada' Davitt.

The 51-year-old has been posting selfies of herself wearing hijabs on Twitter lately, and also a video in which she sang the Azan, or call to supplication.

She tweeted on Oct. 19: "This is to report that I am pleased to have turned into a Muslim. This is the regular finish of any insightful scholar's adventure. All sacred writing study prompts Islam. Which makes every single other sacred writing repetitive."

The artist tore up an image of Pope John Paul II amid a Saturday Night Live appearance in 1992 as a challenge against the Catholic Church.

As of late she has straightforwardly talked about her psychological well-being issues.
